It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the tragic passing this week of Rob Hampshire, affable and long-serving frontman of our Sailing Admin office.
Rob was an honorary member of Corlette Point Sailing Club and an integral part of the success of SPS for 12 years.
With a beaming grin as a permanent fixture, his balance of professionalism and people skills helped set a happy and relaxed tone for the event – for competitors, organisers and volunteers alike.
His infectious nature resulted in half of Port Stephens becoming Geelong Cats fans.
Aged 68 and taken far too soon by cancer, Rob is survived by wife Sharon, son Guy and daughter-in-law Ali plus grandkids Amelia, Declan and Patrick, to whom we pass on our sympathies.
He will be greatly missed by the Sail Port Stephens community. RIP.
